The Kick-off planning meeting for the 2020 Villeneuve reunion was held on October 25, 2019 at the RCAF Wing 424 in Cornwall, Ontario

Here are the highlight of the meeting:

• The meeting was called to order at 7:15pm with 17 family members in attendance representing the majority of the clans
• The reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug.2nd, 2020, rain or shine
• The chair asked each clan to delegate a “Reunion Contact” who will be responsible for forwarding all minutes of meetings, gather the funding from each family unit, as well as, family participation numbers.
• A rough count of who will attend the next reunion was requested for the April 24, 2020 meeting.
• Looking for a Master of Ceremony  representing a city family member
• Venue:
  • “Moose Creek Recreational Center” which is the same location that the 2016 reunion was held
  • A Special Occasion Liquor License” will be required
  • Tables & chairs are needed
    • Noted that if table & chairs costs are pricy, may require all families to bring their own preferred setup.
  • Expected expense related to the venue are park fee, liquor license, clean-up fee, portable potties.
• Registration
  • The registration will be between 09:00am – 11:00am.
  • This will consist of families, highlighting the latest family tree, to indicate their attendance. Name tags will be issued, to put names to faces. Joseph’s Clan has offered to take this on, as in 2016, and be at the tables to ensure all register.
• Identification Of The Clans
  • The same identifying colours as in all past reunions will be used again (PLEASE wear your colours):

Ernest – Red             Alfred – Blue               Sylvio – Maroon

Albert – White           Joseph – Yellow          Leo – Brown

Agnes – Pink             Harvey – Green          George – Grey

• Memorial & Blessing
  • The reunion will begin at 11:00am with the Master of Ceremony remembering all the deceased family members, since the 2016 reunion.
  • The “Blessing” will follow.
  • Further setup & candles needed will be discussed next planning meeting.
• Family Chronicles
  • Request to forward all additional deaths & births so that the family chronicles could be updated for the 2016 reunion. This information (deceased) will be used for the remembrance.
• Photographs
  • Photographs, will consist mostly of everyone taking their own
• Publicity
  • To be discussed at next meeting.
• Funding
  • The funding for the 2020 reunion will be the same as 2016.
  • All “family units” from all clans and generations will contribute $25.00 each towards the reunion. Examples of different family units were reviewed for clarity for the funding gatherers of each clan.
  • Two Raffles – A donated Painting and a 50/50 draw. The ticket amount will be decided next mtg. These contributions will also go towards the Reunion.
• Food
  • To be discussed at next meeting. Looks like the usual contributions by the clans. Vegan & Vegetarian options discussed; maybe one BBQ for meatless burgers.
• Children’s Games
  • Subcommittee to organize different events for the youth. Suggestions were: Fish Pond, Balloon Toss, Sac Races, &Tug-O-Wars, between clans.
  • Bouncy Castles & Face Painting Clowns were discussed to rent for the day.
  • If anyone has ideas for more games, or wish to organize, or get involved please let us know. Help will be needed, in organizing the games, as well as supervision.
• Adult Entertainment
  • To be discussed at next meeting
• Safety & Wellness
  • Will look into the cost to have St. John’s Ambulance onsite for the day.

The first reunion planning meeting was adjourned at 08:30pm with the chair thanking all that took the time to attend.

NEXT MEETING

Second meeting will be held Friday, April 24th, 2020 at 7pm at the RCAF Assoc. Wing 424 (Air Force Club) downstairs, 240 Water St. West in Cornwall, Ontario
