Our Family History

Our Villeneuve ancestors arrived in Canada from France back in 1666.

In the late 1850’s, Charles Alexandre Villeneuve and his wife, Célanie Quesnel, moved from Rigaud and St-Eugène districts to a farm on Dyer Road in the Township of Roxborough, Ontario. They had 14 children but unfortunately three died as infants. The survivors were Louise, Prosper, Elisa, Arthur, Virginie, Fortunat, Azelia, Joseph Alexandre, Antoine, Délima and Télésphore.

On March 11, 1882 extended their farm by purchasing the adjacent East half of Lot 7, Concession 6 for $2,300.00.

On June 10, 1898 Charles Alexandre sold 50 acres of the most northerly part of the farm to his son Joseph Alexandre for $1,000.00.

On July 21, 1903 Charles Alexandre sold the remaining 50 acres to Joseph Alexandre for $500.00.

Joseph Alexandre Villeneuve married Marguerite Doré. They had 18 children (Archie, Dorothy, Adolphus, Clara, Ernest, Albert, Agnès, Louise Sr., Bruno Sr., Bruno, Lucie, Louise, Alfred, Joseph A., Hervé, Sylvio, Léo and George). Our Villeneuve ancestors arrived in Canada from France back in 1666.

Our Reunion History

On a regular basis, some of the Villeneuve clans would get together in Moose Creek to play a friendly baseball game where the country folk would take on the city slickers. It was so well received that the idea to plan a formal get together came to light to allow more of the family members to attend.

The first formal large scale Villeneuve family reunion was held on Sunday, August 4, 1996 at home of Noble Villeneuve. It was such a great success we have been holding them every four years since.

Our family reunion includes the descendants of Joseph Alexandre Villeneuve and his wife Marguerite Doré.
